Feira Medieval do Artesão de Belmonte | Belmonte’s craftsman Medieval Fair

Entre 14 e 17 de Agosto de 2014 o centro histórico da Vila de Belmonte enche-se de animação, música e dança. 

Esta é a XI edição da Feira Medieval do Artesão de Belmonte, que celebra os tempos medievais, proporcionando aos visitantes recriações de diferentes episódios e acontecimentos que marcaram a história local na época medieval. 

Durante estes 4 dias de festa é possível assistir a desfiles de nobres, guerreiros, camponeses ao som de tambores e gaitas de foles! 

Este não é o único local em Portugal onde se recriam os tempos medievais, também em outras regiões do país ocorrem este tipo de eventos como Óbidos, Sines, Sintra, Santa Maria da Feira, Alcobaça, Leiria, entre outros.

Between August 14th and 17th of 2014 the historic center of the Village of Belmonte will receive a lot of animation, music and dance. 

This is the 11th edition of the Belmonte’s craftsman Medieval Fair, which celebrates the medieval times, giving to the visitors recreations of different episodes and events that as made the local history in the middle ages. 

During these 4 days of festival you can watch parades of nobles, warriors, farmers with the sound of drums and bagpipes! 

Belmonte is not the only place in Portugal where recreation of medieval times happens. This type of events also occurs in other regions of the country such as Óbidos, Sines, Sintra, Santa Maria da Feira, Alcobaça, Leiria, among others.

No próximo dia 14 de março tem início, na Vila Medieval de Óbidos, a 12ª edição do Festival Internacional de Chocolate. 

De sexta a domingo, até dia 06 de abril, tem várias deliciosas razões para visitar a Vila de Óbidos. No festival poderá encontrar gastronomia criativa, cake design e até esculturas em chocolate!

Sob o tema ‘jardim zoológico’ promete-se inovação e criatividade num festival que tem como personagem principal o chocolate.

Feira do Cavalo | Horse Fair Golegã

Este ano, integrada na Feira de S. Martinho, entre os dias 07 e 16 de novembro, na Golegã, decorre a 39ª edição da Feira Nacional do Cavalo e a 16ª edição da Feira Internacional do Cavalo Lusitano.

This year, as part of the St. Martin’s festival, between the 07th and the 16th of November in Golegã, take place the 39th edition of the National Horse Festival and the 16th edition of the International ‘Lusitano’ Horse Festival.

É durante estes dias, que a tradição, que teve início em 1571 nesta Vila do Ribatejo, volta a trazer à Golegã a visita de aficionados, profissionais, amadores ou simples curiosos do mundo equestre, cujo propósito é o de assistir, ou mesmo de participar, nas atividades equestres que decorrem na Feira.

It’s during this days, that the tradition, born in 1571, at this Village of Ribatejo, brings back to Golegã, the World of professionals, hobbyists or simply curious about the equestrian world. At this time of the year, Golegã is the place for many different activities:

Novembro, o mês do Magusto! | November, the ‘Magusto’ month!

Em Portugal, os meses de outubro e novembro marcam a chegada do outono, com celebrações um pouco por todo o País. 

O Magusto, festa popular Portuguesa celebra-se nos dia de S. Simão (29 de outubro), no dia de Todos os Santos (1 novembro) e, principalmente no dia de S. Martinho, 11 de novembro. 

Amigos e familiares, principalmente na zona rural, juntam-se à volta de uma fogueira para comer castanhas, beber jeropiga, bebida alcoólica típica Portuguesa. 

Se estiver em Portugal durante este período irá deparar-se com um aroma característico a castanhas assadas que percorre as ruas do país, bem como várias festas do Magusto.

No Alentejo, decorre a tradicional Feira do Castanheiro e da Castanha, na Vila Medieval e no Castelo de Marvão. Este ano as festividades realizam-se a 8 e 9 de novembro e a Feira celebra a sua 31ª edição.

In Portugal, the months of October and November mark the arrival of the Fall with celebrations all over the country. 

The ‘Magusto’, a Portuguese popular festival is celebrated on the Saint Simon’s day (29th October), on the All Saints’ day (1st November), and especially on the Saint Martin’s day (11th November). 

Groups of friends and families, especially in the countryside, get together near a bonfire to eat baked chestnuts and drink ‘jeropiga’, a traditional Portuguese alcoholic drink. 

If you are in Portugal during this period you will be faced with a characteristic flavor from baked chestnuts which runs through the streets of the Country, as well as the various ‘Magusto’ festivals. 

In ‘Alentejo’ happens the traditional ‘Feira do Castanheiro e da Castanha’ (The Chesnut Festivities), in the Medieval Village and at the Castle of Marvão. 

This year, these festivities will be held on the 8th and 9th November and the event celebrates its 31st edition.

‘Enchantment at Monserrate’

Está a decorrer no Palácio de Monserrate, Sintra, a exposição ‘Enchantment at Monserrate’, da pintora Britânica Thelma Chambers. 

Esta exposição é fruto de um ano de residência artística em Monserrate com foco na natureza do local, que permitiu a Thelma pintar directamente nos jardins do Parque de Monserrate e locais envolventes. 

A artista, apaixonada por Sintra, elabora os seus quadros a têmpera – técnica à base de água, em que o pigmento é misturado com ovo ou outro elemento aglutinante. Thelma utiliza pigmentos de uma grande variedade de fontes como metais, químicos, terra ou pedras. 

A pintora afirma que ‘descobrir e deambular pelos jardins em Monserrate é sentir a harmonia das plantas e dos ornamentos e ser levado até áreas de extraordinária calma e beleza, onde as plantas e os elementos arquitectónicos se entrelaçam’. 

Pode visitar esta exposição até dia 24 de novembro de 2013, no Palácio de Monserrate, Sintra.

Is proceeding at the Monserrate Palace, Sintra, the exhibition ‘Enchantment at Monserrate’, of the British Painter Thelma Chambers. 

This exhibition is the outcome of one year artist residency at Monserrate focusing on the place nature, wich allowed Thelma painting straight from the gardens of the ‘Parque de Monserrate’ and its surroundings. 

The artist, passionate about Sintra, draws up her paintings by tempera – water-based technique, in wich the pigment is mixed with egg or other agglutinative element. Thelma uses pigments from a variety of sources such as metals, chemicals, dirt or stones. 

The painter says that discovering and roving ‘through the gardens at Monserrate is to feel the harmony of plants and ornaments and be taken to areas of extraordinary calm and beauty, were pants and architectural elements are interwoven’. 

You can visit this exhibition until November 24 at the Monserrate Palace, Sintra.

Percursos do Azulejo | Tile’s Pathways

Entre os dias 22 e 23 de outubro de 2013, o Programa Municipal de Investigação e Salvaguarda do Azulejo de Lisboa (PISAL) irá realizar visitas guiadas aos bairros de Lisboa. 

Colina do Castelo, Virgens e Burgueses, Entre os Santos e Madragoa são os quatro bairros que irão receber curiosos em busca da história do azulejo português.

Nestas visitas guiadas, além de descobrir um património azulejar que reveste fachadas e interiores dos edifícios de Lisboa, terá a oportunidade de conhecer mais sobre a história da capital portuguesa.

- às 10h30m, no dia 22 de outubro. Ponto de encontro no Largo das Portas do Sol

- às 10h30m, no dia 23 de outubro. Ponto de encontro junto ao Chafariz da Esperança.

Between the 22^nd and the 23^rd  2013, the Lisbon Municipal Programme for Research and Tile Protection (PISAL), will conduct guided tours around the neighborhoods of the city.

‘Colina do Castelo’, ‘Virgens e Burgueses’, ‘Entre os Santos’ and 'Madragoa’ are the four highlight neighbourhoods to get curious about, in this search of the Portuguese tile history.

During these tours, you will discover a tiling patrimony that coats facades and interiors of buildings in Lisbon. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about the history of the Portuguese capital, Lisbon.

'Aqui mora o Fado'

Este é o mote para a 1ª edição do FestivalCaixa Alfama que está a decorrer em Lisboa, na zona de Alfama desde ontem, dia 20 de Setembro.

‘Aqui mora o Fado’ pretende juntar fadistas de diferentes gerações, com o objetivo de chegar a todos os públicos: ‘dos profundos conhecedores do Fado, àqueles que só há pouco o vêm descobrindo' refere a Organização.

Baseado num conceito inovador que dará vida às ruas de Alfama, a apresentação dos Fadistas é feita em 10 espaços distintos: Museu do Fado (restaurante e auditório), Igreja de S. Miguel e Igreja de Santo Estevão, Meo Arena, Grupo Desportivo Adicense, Largo das Alcaçarias, Sociedade Boa União, CC Dr. Magalhães Lima e Palco Caixa.

O Festival já contou com a presença de Camané, Ana Moura, Gisela João, Luísa Rocha, Diamantina, Hélder Moutinho, entre outros.

Se está em Lisboa ainda tem oportunidade de ouvir hoje, dia 21 de setembro as vozes de Raquel Tavares, Cuca Roseta, António Zambujo, Carmo Moniz Pereira, Luís Matos, Yola Dinis, Teresa Tapadas e muitos mais.

This is the motto for the 1st edition of the ‘FestivalCaixa Alfama’, that is taking place in Alfama, Lisbon, since yesterday, September 20.

‘Aqui mora o fado’ aims to bring together, Fado artists' from different generations, with the goal of reaching all audiences: 'the ones which deeply know the Fado and those who have find it recently ' refers the Festival Organisation.

Based on an innovative concept, that will give life to the Alfama's streets, the Fado singers presentation happens in different spaces, such as the 'Fado Museum' (restaurant and auditorium), the churches of 'S. Miguel' and of 'Santo Estevão', Meo Arena, ‘GrupoDesportivo Adicense’, ‘Largo das Alcaçarias’, ‘Sociedade Boa União’, ‘CC Dr. Magalhães Lima’ and ‘Palco Caixa’.

The festival has featured with the presence of Camané, Ana Moura, Gisela João, Luísa Rocha,Diamantina, Hélder Moutinho, among others.

If you are in Lisbon today September 21, you still have the opportunity to listen to the voices of Raquel Tavares, Cuca Roseta, António Zambujo, CarmoMoniz Pereira, Luís Matos, Yola Dinis, Teresa Tapadas and much more.

Há Flores na Cidade

No âmbito da Vogue Fashion’s night out, realizar-se-á, em Lisboa, o evento “Há flores na Cidade”, promovido pela Câmara de Lisboa, pela empresa Violeta no Bairro e pela Associação Portuguesa de Produtores de Plantas. 

O evento irá decorrer entre 12 a 15 de Setembro, onde diversos produtores nacionais terão oportunidade de decorar os passeios da Avenida da Liberdade com flores e plantas, mostrando o que de melhor se produz em Portugal.
